Chelsea are confident of landing speedy Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman as a replacement for Brazilian flop Filipe Luis.

Luis, who started, who started only nine games in his first season is on closing in on a return to Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

The left-back expected to rejoin his previous club within days — after just 12 months, and 15 appearances, with the newly-crowned Premier League champions.

And the Blues have set their eyes on the exciting Ghana defender as his replacement.

The 20-year-old Augsburg star was hugely impressive for his German club last season and has also had Roma keen to sign him.

The player’s preference, however, is to go to London.

Chelsea are currently in Montreal, as they begin their pre-season tour of North America.

They are set to play New York Red Bulls, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona on the trip, before a Community Shield meeting with FA Cup winners Arsenal and one final friendly against Fiorentina at Stamford Bridge.
