Chelsea have made a €65m offer for France international and Roma midfielder Manu Kone, according to football transfer insider Nicolo Schira.
The London club have approached Roma with a proposal for the 25-year-old, who could now move to one of the leading clubs in the Premier League. The next decision rests with both the player and the Serie A side’s management.
Schira reported the approach on social media, stating that Chelsea had attempted to sign the France midfielder from Roma. The proposed fee for the transfer is €65m.
No decision has yet been reported on whether Roma will accept the offer or whether Kone will agree to a move to Stamford Bridge. The midfielder’s contract with the Italian club runs until the end of June 2029, giving Roma a long-term agreement with the player as they consider Chelsea’s proposal.
Kone made 29 appearances for Roma in Serie A last season. He scored two goals, provided three assists and was shown two yellow cards during the campaign.
The figures underline the role Kone played for the Rome-based club last season, while his contract length gives Roma a strong position in discussions over his future. Chelsea’s offer now places the focus on whether the Premier League club can persuade both the player and his current employers to approve the transfer.
Kone is also part of the France national team. His possible move would therefore take him from Roma to one of the Premier League’s top clubs, with Chelsea having formally tried to secure his services for the stated €65m fee.
For now, the outcome depends on the response from Roma and Kone. The Serie A club must decide how to handle the bid, while the player will have a say in whether he wants to pursue the proposed move to Chelsea.
