Chelsea are in advanced talks with Besiktas over the transfer of 22-year-old defender Kenneth Omeruo according to BBC journalist Oluwashina Okeleji.

Okeleji told Turkish-football.com that talks between have progressed between the Blues and Besiktas but personal terms had yet to be agreed upon.

“Besiktas are in advanced talks with Chelsea but nothing has been agreed with the player,” Okeleji said.

The Black Eagles have made strengthening defensively a priority over the summer.

Omeruo is of course no stranger to Turkey having already established himself as one of the most sought after defenders in the Super Lig after an impressive debut season at Kaismpasa.

The Nigerian international was one of two Chelsea players loaned out to Turkey with the other being Marko Marin at Trabzonspor.

Besiktas would be Omeruo’s most high profile loan move to date and give him the chance to gain experience at a genuine title challenging side and play Champions League football.

The Istanbul giants won the league last season and Omeruo will know the club well considering Kasimpasa are just a short distance from the district of Besiktas.
