Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has named a 24-man squad for Nigeria’s upcoming double-header against Tanzania in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Captain Wilfred Ndidi headlines the selection alongside defenders Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi, midfielders Alex Iwobi and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and attacking players Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams.
Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Arthur Okonkwo and Francis Uzoho have also been included, while the defensive options feature Olaoluwa Aina, Benjamin Fredricks, Bruno Onyemaechi, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Chibuike Nwaiwu.
Chelle has also handed places to Czechia-based wing-back Abdullahi Bewene, midfielders Tochukwu Nnadi, Samson Tijani, Alhassan Yusuf and Mubarak Suleiman, as well as forwards Taiwo Awoniyi, Tolu Arokodare and Moses Usor.
Nigeria will welcome Tanzania’s Taifa Stars to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13, before travelling to Zanzibar for the return encounter at the Amman Stadium on Tuesday, November 17.
The Super Eagles currently occupy second position in Group L, behind leaders Guinea-Bissau, and will be looking to collect maximum points from the two fixtures to improve their position in the qualification race.
Although Tanzania are already guaranteed a place at the 2027 tournament as co-hosts, the remaining qualification place in the group is still being contested by Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar.
The 2027 AFCON finals will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
