Chelle gives Akor first invitation, recalls Moffi, Ajayi and Olusegun for crucial World Cup Qualifiers

Nigeria's Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has named a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Key players William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, and Wilfred Ndidi lead the selection.

Former WestBrom defender, Semi Ajayi returns after missing the September qualifiers due to injury.

Forwards Terem Moffi and Olakunle Olusegun, who plays in Russia, have also been recalled.

Meanwhile, Sevilla forward, Jerome Akor Adams has been given maiden call up.

Nigeria trails leaders Benin Republic and second-placed South Africa by three points in Group C.

The Super Eagles face Lesotho on October 10 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa, before hosting Benin Republic in Uyo on October 14.

Players are expected to assemble in Polokwane on October 6 to begin preparations.
