The Nigeria Super Eagles B team tasted defeat in the hands of Ghana in the first leg of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.
The CHAN Eagles fell by two goals to nil at the Gold Coast Stadium courtesy of goals from Daniel Afriyie and Seidu Suraj.
After a cagey first phase where the tie ended goalless, the Black Galaxies came like a storm to hit the Nigerian team hard as early as the ninth minute of second phase.
Afriyie put Ghana ahead through a penalty after the ball came off the hand of a Nigerian defender in the 18-yard box.
Suraj's finished from close range four minutes to the end of the game to gave his team a first leg advantage going into the second leg in Abuja.
The return leg comes up in Abuja on 3rd September, 2022 as the two teams seek to outdo each other in order to qualify for 2023 CHAN in Algeria.
