CHAN 2025: CAF Confirms Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania as hosts

Published on: 26 September 2024

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will jointly host the upcoming TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2025 with the tournament scheduled to take place from February 1st to 28th, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

While the specific host stadiums and training venues will be revealed at a later date, the qualification process for the tournament is set to begin in October 2024.

The first round of qualifiers will be held on the weekend of October 25-27 and November 1-3. The second round will follow in December, taking place from December 20-22 and December 27-29.

CAF has allocated qualification slots based on regional zones. WAFU A, WAFU B, UNAF, UNIFFAC, and COSAFA will each have three teams qualify.

The CECAFA zone, which includes the three host countries, will have an additional slot due to their automatic qualification.

This brings the total number of participating teams in the final tournament to 19.

It's important to note that while Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania are guaranteed a place in the final tournament as hosts, they will still compete in the qualifiers.

The team that achieves the best result among the CECAFA teams in the qualifiers will also secure a spot in the final tournament.
