CHAN 2024: CAF begins inspection of venues

African football governing body, CAF has embarked on its second round of inspection visits to Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The aim is to assess the progress made in preparations for the upcoming TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, which will be jointly hosted by the three East African nations from February 1st to 24th, 2025.

A CAF delegation, comprising representatives from various departments, is currently conducting thorough inspections across the three host countries from November 22nd to 30th.

The delegation, alongside football and government officials, is evaluating and identifying areas for improvement in key functional areas, such as stadiums, hotels, airports, training venues, and other facilities, to ensure they meet the world-class standards set by recent CAF competitions.

Additionally, these nations are also gearing up to jointly host the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027.

This second inspection follows the initial visit on September 17th, 2024, which was attended by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

Kampala, Uganda: 21 - 24 November Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: 24 - 27 November Nairobi, Kenya: 27 - 30 November

The first day of the current inspection concluded with a visit to the Uganda State House, where the CAF delegation was welcomed by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sport, Hon. Janet Museveni, who also chairs the Local Organizing Committee. The delegation presented reports on each functional area to the First Lady.

After completing the inspection in Uganda, the CAF team will travel to Tanzania for a three-day visit from November 24th to 27th, followed by a final inspection in Kenya from November 27th to 30th.

The inspection team represents crucial CAF departments, including Marketing, Communication, Broadcast, Competition, Safety and Security, Medical, and Protocol.
