Cesc Fabregas has been named Serie A’s best coach for the 2025-26 season after guiding Como to a historic fourth-place finish and qualification for the Champions League.
The award was announced by the Italian Footballers’ Association, which confirmed that the Spanish coach had been recognised for his work during Como’s remarkable campaign in Italy’s top division.
Fabregas, 39, has been in charge of Como since 2024. Under his leadership, the club secured fourth place in the 2025-26 Serie A table, ending the season with 71 points from 38 matches.
That finish gave Como a place in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history. Their achievement was the defining feature of the previous Serie A season and earned Fabregas the coaching award.
The recognition comes after a campaign in which Como moved beyond simply competing in Serie A and delivered a result that secured European football’s leading club competition. The fourth-place finish was enough to take the side into the Champions League, marking an unprecedented milestone for the club.
Fabregas’ appointment as Como manager in 2024 began the current period of his leadership at the club. The former Spain international is now being rewarded for the results achieved during his second season in charge, with the award formally confirming his status as the division’s outstanding coach for 2025-26.
Como have since begun a new Serie A campaign. After two matches, Fabregas’ side are eighth in the standings with four points.
Their next fixture will be away from home against Genoa on 4 September. The match, which will be Como’s third game of the season, is scheduled to begin at 21:45 Moscow time.
The Genoa fixture will provide Como with their next opportunity to build on the start they have made to the new campaign, while Fabregas begins his latest season with the recognition of last year’s achievement already secured.
For Como, the award is closely linked to the club’s most significant league finish. Their 71-point total from 38 games delivered fourth place and, with it, a first-ever route into the Champions League. For Fabregas, it represents official recognition as the best coach in Serie A after overseeing that historic qualification.
