Rashford aims to step up

Marcus Rashford wants to accept the increased pressure on him to score more goals this season.

The 21-year-old England forward is expected to lead the line for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan this week.

Rashford, 5/1 to score the opening goal when United's season begins against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, wants to plug the goals gap.

For me it's just about becoming the guy that's responsible and reliable.

He has managed 13 goals in each of the previous two campaigns and knows he must step up, along with Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez, as well as talented 17-year-old Mason Greenwood.

"For me it's just about becoming the guy that's responsible and reliable," Rashford said.

"I feel like that's the next step for me. Everything goes in order of the way it should be done."

Belgium international Lukaku scored 41 times over the past two seasons but he didn't fit into the plans of Solskjaer.

Rashford feels he has now gained experience as a first-team player and is eager to make his mark.

"I remember these similar steps when I first went into the Under-18s and it takes you a season to grow into that standard of football," he added.

"Before you know it, you're one of the leaders there and you take responsibility on the pitch. Now I'm in that situation for the first team."

Man United are 5/4 to overcome Chelsea. Frank Lampard is 13/5 to engineer victory in his first Premier League game as Blues boss, while the draw is 23/10.
