Michael Carrick was given a testimonial game at Old Trafford this summer
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick will be offered a coaching role at the club, says boss Jose Mourinho.
Carrick has not played since September because of an irregular heart rhythm.
He has had a treatment called a cardiac ablation. Mourinho said: "He knows that my coaching staff has the chair for him if he wants."
"When he wants the chair, it is there in the office for him. I want that, the board wants that and the owner wants that. His future will be with us."
Carrick, 36, who joined United from Tottenham in 2006, has played just once this season, in the 4-1 win against Burton in the Carabao Cup third round on 20 September.

He said in a statement on Saturday: "I'm healthy and back training hard with the team."
The England player added that he was being "monitored closely" and was "aiming to be back in contention for selection soon".
Mourinho added: "Michael, as a person, is more important than Michael as a player. We gave him the time to relax, to recover, to feel confident, to make the decision when he wants to play and when he wants to stop.
"But he wants to be a player until the end of the season and now he feels confident to be back and now he is training back with us."
The British Heart Foundation says an ablation is a treatment that aims to control or correct certain types of abnormal heart rhythms.
