Captain Ibrahima Traore has called on all Guineans to support the team ahead of their quarter final clash against Ghana on Sunday.
The Syli National qualified to play the Black Stars by the stroke of luck having been successful in the ‘drawing of lots’ conducted by CAF after finishing Group D tied on all fronts with Mali.
Guinea have however been considered as the ‘dark horses’ of the competition – exciting many with their sleek football inspired by the Ebola crisis that has hit their country.
The team has however suffered heavy criticisms back home in Guinean.
And Traore wants this trend halted at least until after their quarter final clash against Ghana on Sunday in Malabo.
“Tomorrow is a big day for all Guineans and that is why I want to tell the Guinean journalist to be with us as one,”
“They have to lay it down and be with us rather than write [bad things] about the coach and the players.
“I hope they will be dancing with us rather than write sh** about us.”
