Cameroon’s U17 squad has moved into a more intensive phase of preparation for the 2026 World Cup in Qatar, with all 60 players called up by coach Libiih Thomas now assembled at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza.
The Lions U17 began their seventh day of training on Monday, 31 August 2026, as the coaching staff continued to assess the group ahead of the tournament. Two more evaluation matches are scheduled for Tuesday, 1 September, giving the technical team another opportunity to measure the players’ progress.
The first game is due to take place from 10:00 to 12:00, with the second scheduled between 12:00 and 14:00.
The additional tests follow two evaluation victories recorded on Friday, 28 August, when the Cameroon youngsters faced an academy from Ebolowa. The results represented a strong start to the assessment programme and provided encouragement over the attitude and competitiveness shown by the squad.
The completion of the group is another important stage in the camp. With the 60 selected players now present, Libiih Thomas and his staff can work with the full squad as they continue preparations for Cameroon’s appearance at the Qatar 2026 World Cup.
The training programme has so far combined tactical discipline with a high level of commitment from the players. The coaching staff are satisfied with the work completed during the opening days of the camp, while the squad remains focused on representing Cameroon successfully in Qatar.
The two matches on Tuesday will extend the evaluation process and allow the staff to examine the players in further competitive situations. They also form part of the gradual build-up intended to sharpen the team before the World Cup.
For the Lions U17, the camp at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre is therefore becoming increasingly demanding. Following the victories in the first assessments, the players face another double test as they seek to make a strong impression and strengthen their case during the selection process.
The squad’s determination to carry Cameroon’s colours with pride has been evident throughout the work completed so far, according to the technical staff. With the group now complete and further matches immediately ahead, preparations for Qatar 2026 are gathering pace.
