CAF release U-20 AFCON fixtures, dates and venues

CAF has officially unveiled the complete schedule including dates, kick-off times and host venues for both the group stage and subsequent knockout phase of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2025, Nigeriasoccernet.com can confirm.

The highly anticipated tourney is set to unfold from April 27th to May 18th, 2025, bringing together thirteen nations to compete across three prominent Egyptian cities: Cairo, Ismailia, and Suez. The tournament will commence on Sunday, April 27th with the host nation Egypt taking on Zambia in the opening match at the iconic Cairo International Stadium.

That same evening, the action will get underway in Ismailia with a Group A encounter between Sierra Leone and South Africa. Group B will then spring into action on May 1st at Cairo Stadium on 30th June with a clash between Nigeria and Kenya, followed by a later match featuring Kenya against Morocco at the same venue.

Defending champions Senegal are slated to begin their title defence on May 2nd in Suez against the Central African Republic with another Group C fixture between DR Congo and Ghana rounding off the day's action at the same Suez stadium.

The TotalEnergies CAF U-20 AFCON Egypt 2025 will employ a three-group structure with Group A consisting of five teams while Group B and C will each have four participating nations. Progression to the quarter-finals will be granted to the top two finishers from each group, in addition to the two highest-ranked third-placed teams.

Ultimately, the tournament will reach its climax on May 18th, 2025, with the four nations that reach the semi-final stage earning the prestigious opportunity to represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025.
