Super Eagles assistant coach and former football star Emmanuel Amunike has addressed the circulating video where he appeared to favor Mohamed Salah over Victor Osimhen, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Amunike, renowned for propelling Osimhen into the spotlight during the U-17 World Cup, expressed frustration over the misunderstanding of the video's context.

He clarified that he was posed a choice between Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi, leading to his selection of the Egyptian forward. Amunike, emphasizing he wasn't tasked with voting, recounted the scenario during a discussion en route to a novelty game in Marrakech.

The former Egyptian national team captain initiated the debate, asking Amunike to choose between Hakimi and Salah.

Amunike's choice of Salah was grounded in his experience playing and living in Egypt.

He urged against the spread of false news and emphasized Osimhen's significance as Nigeria's player. Amunike, a familiar face at CAF awards, was named the best player in 1994 after contributing to Nigeria's African Cup of Nations victory in Tunisia.
