The Super Eagles and Napoli striker beat Morocco and PSG defender Achraf Hakimi and Liverpool and Egypt's striker Mohammed Salah to win on the night.
He becomes the first Nigerian to win the CAF men’s Player of the Year since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.
The 24-year-old was announced the winner of the gong at the gala held in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Monday.
Osimhen becomes the fifth in the country’s football history (Rashidi Yekini 1993; Emmanuel Amuneke 1994; Victor Ikpeba 1997; Nwakwo Kanu 1996,1999.
His 31 goals and 5 assist in the 2022/2023 Italian Serie A season helped Napoli their first-ever Serie A title in 33 years while scoring 10 goals in the same year for Nigeria in the AFCON qualifying series.
