The Confederation of African Football (CAF) could reverse its decision to stage the Africa Cup of Nations every four years, according to journalist Romain Molina.
The issue is expected to be discussed by the organisation’s executive committee, although CAF has not officially confirmed that its competition calendar is being reconsidered.
CAF announced in December 2025 that the tournament would move to a four-year cycle from 2028. The proposed change prompted debate about the future scheduling of African competitions and the place of the Africa Cup of Nations within the international football calendar.
If the executive committee does examine the possibility, CAF could consider restoring a tournament every two years. However, no formal decision has yet been announced confirming a change to the schedule.
