CAF Awards: Ademola Lookman emerges best male player of the year

Nigeria's Ademola Lookman has been announced as the best male player in Africa for 2024 at the CAF Awards held in Morocco on Monday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Super Eagles and Atalanta BC forward beat South Africa's Ronwen Williams, Morocco's Achraf Hakimi, Simom Adingra of Cote D'Ivoire and Serhou Guirassy of Guinea to win the award.

He becomes the 6th Nigerian player to win the award after Rashidi Yekini in 1993, Emmanuel Amuneke in 1994, Kanu Nwankwo in 1996 and 1999, Finidi George in 1997 Victor Osimhen the previous year.

Nigeria is officially the country with the most CAF Player of the Year Awards (7).

Nigeria is also the only country to win the CAF player of the year Award in 2 consecutive years on 3 occasions, with different players.
