Bayer Leverkusen forward, Nathan Tella has revealed how his side were able to convincingly triumph over perennial German Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Xavi Alonso’s side on Saturday solidified their grip on the top spot in the Bundesliga with a commanding 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich.
Tella who contributed an assist to Leverkusen’s success on the night although acknowledged the supremacy of the it opposition over years but the Super Eagles claimed the secret to their win was “sticking to principles and fundamentals.”
“It means a lot us, we’ve had a very good season and everyone have talked to a lot about this this game. But for us, we wanted to just push this game like we’ve approached every game.” Tella said after the game.
“We know Bayern Munich is one of the best in the world, we know it’s going to be a difficult game for us, but we know we had to stick to principles, stick to fundamentals and hopefully we will get a result, and we did.”
Bayer Leverkusen now lead the Bundesliga with 51 points, five more than the Bavarians.
