Michael Zetterer is thinking openly about staying at Werder Bremen. As the goalkeeper revealed to the 'Weser Kurier', he could only imagine extending his contract beyond 2022 if he held the post as number one. “It won't do me any good if I sat on the bench here for the next five or six years,” explains the Bremen goalkeeper.

In the first five games of the season, the 26-year-old stood between the posts and knew how to convince. Now regular goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka (29) is fit again and coach Markus Anfang is facing a difficult decision.

Zetterer makes no secret of his ambitions: “I would like to stay in goal.” The game against FC Ingolstadt on Saturday (1:30 pm) will accordingly point the way.
