Bayer Leverkusen climbed to the top of the Bundesliga standings with a 4-1 win over Augsburg on Saturday, courtesy of two early own goals.
Florian Wirtz, an uncapped 18-year-old midfielder, scored the visitors' fourth goal on Friday, lifting the Werkself to first place on goal difference.
Augsburg got off to a bad start as Brazilian defender Iago and forward Florian Niederlechner both put the ball in their own net after 14 minutes, giving Leverkusen a 2-0 lead.
Leverkusen had a goal by Moussa Diaby called off by VAR for a handball in the build-up just before the interval.
In the second half, it was all Leverkusen as they overpowered their Bavarian opponents.
Patrik Schick of the Czech Republic scored their third goal before Wirtz scored late from a tight angle.
