Bayern Munich has asked fans to refrain from whistling winger Leroy Sane ahead of Saturday's Bundesliga encounter against Hertha Berlin at the Allianz Arena.

On Wednesday, Bayern Munich crushed Bremer 12-0 in the German Cup, with back-up striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting netting four goals, including a hat-trick in the first half.

Sane was whistled by the visiting fans even after assisting up Choupo-first Moting's two goals and scoring one himself at Bremer.

"He is sometimes accused of looking as if he is not bothered, but he was extremely committed," said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Sane's inconsistency has been a source of frustration for Bayern fans. He was also booed during the home win against Cologne last Saturday following an errant pass, and he was replaced at half-time.

During Germany's Euro 2020 matches in Munich, he had previously been exposed to whistles from enraged home supporters.
