Breaking News: Ghana defender Baba Rahman set to arrive for Chelsea medical, €25m deal agreed
Ghana defender Baba Rahman has agreed to join Chelsea

Ghana defender Baba Abdul-Rahman is set to arrive in London in the coming hours to undergo a medical at Chelsea after a €25m deal was reached with Augsburg on Monday, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The English champions Chelsea will pay €20m upfront for the right-back with the remaining €5m to be paid depending on the appearances the Ghana international makes for the Blues.

The right-back agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions worth €3m a season become the most expensive transfer for Chelsea so far this summer.

He will join Radamel Falcao, Nathan, Asmir Begovic and Danilo Pantic as the club's new signing this summer.

This agreement with Augsburg paves the way for Baba Rahman to travel to London latest by Tuesday to undergo the medical with the English giants before the deal is sealed.

The two sides returned to the negotiation table on Sunday after talks broke down following the German side's insistence on €25m as the transfer sum.

However, the agent and advisor of the player convinced to two sides to return to the table for talks before the deal was reached even though Augsburg held out for €25m.

An agreement was reached that the full €25m amount will only be paid if the player appears in between 20 to 100 matches for Chelsea.

The Ghana international is Jose Mourinho’s first-choice target to replace Filipe Luis, who was sold back to Atletico Madrid last month after failing to impress at Stamford Bridge last season.

The 21-year-old has been chased by Blues boss Jose Mourinho as he looks to secure a replacement for Luis.

Rahman played in Augsburg’s 3-1 victory over Elversburg in the German Cup on Friday night but that is expected to be his last appearance for them.

He will provide competition for first choice Cesar Azpilicueta and will be given the chance to impress.

Chelsea are also refusing to give up hope of bringing Everton defender John Stones to Stamford Bridge and are expected to make an improved offer of £30m.

Baba Rahman is a very composed left back. He can compete very well at Chelsea and he will shine. He just needs to add shooting for goals to his list of talents when he finds himself upfront.

Terrible terrible decision. I think will be left to rot on the bench. Chelsea's current full backs have SOLIDIFIED their places already, even Felipe Luis, a world class full back was made to rot for a year on Chelsea's bench. I wish he had gone to a team like tottenham or Everton who don't spend stupid money on already finished products instead of giving proper opportunities to the youngsters. God willing it all goes well regardless of the negative possibilities.
