Breaking: Amaju Pinnick Returns to African Football Leadership as CAF Special Adviser

Published on: 05 July 2025

Erstwhile President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, returns to CAF as special adviser to the CAF President Patrice Motsepe, NigeriaSoccernet.com writes.

In a press conference still live on YouTube Motsepe told the media that Pinnick will be attending all the meetings of CAF as his adviser.

"I did not know Amajou is so loved in CAF ", Motsepe quipped to apparently justify the return of the former NFF President, who recently lost his seat in the FIFA Council by a lone vote.

Amaju, it must be recalled, was at the forefront in the nomination of Patrice Motsepe for the CAF presidency. He was once CAF's First Vice President during the dispensation of Ahmad, and ever since has seen his influence drastically ebbed off the official sphere.

His new position is a clear appreciation of his contributions to the game, and Motsepe said so.
