Everton replaced Abdu Maikaba, who recently pitched tent with former NPFL champions, Plateau United.

The young Brazilian gained prominence in Nigeria after guiding FC Ifeanyiubah to win the Aiteo Federation Cup in 2016

He also had a brief stint with Abia Warriors after severing ties with FC Ifeanyiubah.

Akwa United finished second in the NPFL last season and surrendered the Aiteo Federation Cup title they won last year, losing in the quarter-final to eventual winners Enugu Rangers.

Everton believes he can help the Promise Keepers win another major silverware after a trophyless campaign last term.

“I believe in my work and I believe I can win a trophy for Akwa United,” he said at his unveiling in Uyo on Monday.

“I like picking up new challenges, that pushes me to be great.”

The 2018/2019 NPFL season will kick-off on December 1st 2018.
