Borussia Dortmund set for an attacking test against Eintracht Frankfurt

Published on: 23 October 2026

Borussia Dortmund host Eintracht Frankfurt in the seventh round of the Bundesliga on 24 October, with the home side aiming to return to winning ways after two successive league draws.

Niko Kovac’s team remain unbeaten in the current Bundesliga campaign, but they have shared the points in their last two matches. Dortmund drew 2-2 with Werder Bremen before being held to a goalless draw by Union Berlin.

Those results cost Dortmund top spot in the table. They are now second, although they trail Bayern Munich only on goal difference and other tie-breaking criteria.

Serhou Guirassy, Fabio Silva and Felix Nmecha are Dortmund’s leading Bundesliga scorers this season, with each player having scored twice.

Dortmund did return to winning form in the Champions League this week. They defeated Sabah 2-1 in Azerbaijan in the third round of the league phase, with Guirassy scoring both goals.

Frankfurt looking to build on Cologne win

Eintracht Frankfurt moved to eight points from six league matches by beating Cologne 1-0 at home in their previous Bundesliga fixture.

The decisive moment came in the 77th minute, when Younes Ebnoutalib found the net. He is Frankfurt’s leading scorer in the Bundesliga this season with five goals.

The victory lifted Frankfurt to 11th in the standings, but they remain only three points clear of the relegation play-off place. Dino Toppmoller’s side have scored 10 goals and conceded 16 in the league campaign so far.

The bookmakers rate Dortmund as clear favourites to win at Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund have recorded seven victories in their past 10 matches, while Frankfurt have won three of their previous five.

Recent head-to-head results also favour the hosts. Dortmund have beaten Frankfurt three times in the last five meetings, suffering just one defeat. The most recent contest ended in a 3-2 victory for Dortmund.

Prediction

Dortmund’s record in this fixture on home soil points towards another productive display in attack.

In four of their last five home matches against Frankfurt, Dortmund scored more than two goals. On that basis, the prediction is that the hosts will score at least three times.

The match will be played on 24 October 2026, with Dortmund seeking to keep pace with Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga and Frankfurt looking to extend their distance from the relegation play-off zone.
