Physical trainer of the Black Stars Jamie Lawrence has ‘rubbished’ reports he was unable to travel with the team to Equatorial Guinea for the 2015 AFCON due to his inability to secure a visa.
The Jamaican was reported to have returned to Ghana alongside video analyst Gerald after the Black Stars’ 10-day camp in Seville, Spain.
The report goes on to claim that the duo did not have visas to travel with the team to Mongomo for the start of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and that they are in Ghana as the GFA make efforts to secure them the travel documents ahead of Monday’s Group C opener against Senegal.
But the former Sunderland player has dismissed these claims having traveled with the team to Mongomo earlier in the week.
“This story [about his inability to travel with the team] is total rubbish,” Lawrence Tweeted.
“Got to Equatorial Guinea days ago [visa] was never a issue.
“People need to get facts right.”
The Black Stars team are currently in Mongomo putting finishing touches to their preparations ahead of their opening Group C game against Senegal on Monday.
Ghana will also face Algeria and South Africa in their subsequent group games.
