Fiorentina have completed the signing of Everton striker Beto, with the Italy-based club announcing the arrival of the Guinea-Bissau international on Tuesday in a deal reported to be worth 18m euros.
The 28-year-old, whose full name is Norberto Bercique Gomes Betuncal, joins Fiorentina after three seasons with Everton. He is expected to add strength, physical presence and experience of English football to the Italian club’s attack.
Fiorentina confirmed the transfer but did not disclose the length of the contract agreed with their new centre-forward.
Beto leaves Everton having played 113 matches for the club, scoring 25 goals and providing three assists. He joined the Toffees in the summer of 2023 and wore the number nine shirt during his time at Goodison Park.
His departure brings an end to his spell with Everton as he prepares for a new stage of his career in Italy. Fiorentina are hoping the striker can improve the effectiveness of their attack and provide greater weight in the final third.
Beto’s arrival gives the Viola another powerful attacking option as they prepare for the next phase of the Italian championship. His previous experience in the Premier League is also expected to help him adapt to the demands of his new team.
Fiorentina’s next league fixture will be against Torino FC in the third round of the Italian championship. The match will be followed closely as Beto begins his association with the club, although the new signing’s involvement was not specified in the announcement of his transfer.
Pre-match betting prices listed for the fixture put Torino FC at 4.20 to win, with a draw rated at 3.30 and Fiorentina priced at 1.82.
