Bertrand Traore’s next move remains unresolved as European transfer window closes

Published on: 01 September 2026

As the summer transfer window reaches its final hours in the major European leagues, Bertrand Traore remains without a club and has yet to confirm where he will play during the 2026-2027 season.

The Burkina Faso captain’s contract with Sunderland expired in June, leaving the experienced forward available as clubs complete their recruitment before the window shuts. Despite interest from several teams in recent weeks, Traore has not announced an agreement with a new side.

A number of possible destinations have been linked with the Burkina Faso international. Watford, FC Nordsjælland and Ajax Amsterdam have all been mentioned as potential suitors, while clubs from Saudi Arabia have also shown interest in signing him.

Ajax Amsterdam would represent a familiar destination for Traore. The player has already had two spells with the Dutch club, although there has been no confirmation that he will return for a third period in Amsterdam.

More recently, speculation emerged suggesting that Juventus could be interested in the forward. That report, however, has not been confirmed, and there is currently no official indication that a move to the Italian club is close.

With only a few hours remaining before the transfer window closes, Traore’s next destination remains unknown. The former Sunderland player has therefore entered the final stage of the summer market without publicly committing to a club for the new campaign.

The situation leaves the captain of the Etalons waiting for clarity at a time when the principal European leagues are preparing to close their transfer business. Although several possibilities have circulated, none has yet developed into an officially announced move.

Traore’s contract with Sunderland coming to an end in June opened the way for him to consider a new challenge. Since then, Watford, FC Nordsjælland, Ajax Amsterdam and Saudi Arabian clubs have been associated with the Burkina Faso international, while Juventus has been the subject of more recent but unconfirmed speculation.

For now, none of those links has produced a confirmed destination. Traore remains unattached as the deadline approaches, with his plans for the 2026-2027 season still to be made public.
