Barcelona are negotiating with Deportivo over a possible loan move for midfielder Marc Casado before the transfer window closes.
The 22-year-old remains the subject of discussions between the two clubs, with Deportivo seeking to take him on loan until the end of the season. According to journalist Ferran Martinez, the club wants the agreement to contain no purchase option, meaning Casado would return to Barcelona when the loan period ends.
Barcelona, however, are pushing for different terms. The Catalan club want the deal to include an obligation to make the transfer permanent if the player reaches certain performance-related achievements.
Those conditions have become the central issue in negotiations, with the two sides yet to reach an agreement over the structure of the proposed move. Deportivo are therefore attempting to secure Casado’s services temporarily, while Barcelona are seeking a route that could lead to a full transfer if the midfielder meets the specified targets.
Casado is under contract with Barcelona until 2028. The Spanish midfielder has made 75 appearances for the club’s first team, scoring one goal and providing seven assists.
The potential move would see him leave Barcelona on a temporary basis before the close of the current transfer window, although the final outcome depends on whether the clubs can settle their disagreement over the inclusion of the mandatory transfer clause.
Deportivo’s preference is for a straightforward loan with no obligation to buy. Barcelona’s position is that any agreement should protect the possibility of a permanent transfer should Casado achieve the required milestones during his spell away from the club.
The negotiations remain ongoing, and no completed transfer has been confirmed. For now, the midfielder is still a Barcelona player, with his existing contract binding him to the club until 2028.
