Barcelona weather warning raises concerns over Racing match at Camp Nou

Barcelona have been warned that a storm front could affect Wednesday evening’s Spanish championship fixture against Racing at Camp Nou.

The regional meteorological agency Meteocat has issued an alert for severe weather approaching Catalonia, with heavy rain and falling temperatures expected, according to Goal.

Forecasters expect unsettled conditions to continue until the early hours of Thursday. A yellow warning for downpours, strong winds and hail is in force across several areas.

The weather could therefore affect plans for the match at Camp Nou, although there is still significant time before kick-off. The game is scheduled to begin at 22:30 Moscow time.

The possibility of disruption comes with Camp Nou still undergoing reconstruction. Barcelona have previously played in difficult conditions at the stadium, including during their Champions League meeting with Feyenoord.

On that occasion, heavy rain fell for part of one half, with the intensity of the downpour clearly visible during the television broadcast. The match was not stopped, although there were problems with water drainage in the stands.

Images showing the effects of the rain were also shared on social media.
