Barcelona are due to host Real Madrid in the first Clasico of the 2026/2027 season on 25 October, with reports suggesting Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez could lead the officiating team.
The possible appointment would come only weeks after Real Madrid expressed dissatisfaction with Hernandez Hernandez’s performance in their 1-0 defeat away to Real Betis at the start of the autumn.
Real Madrid felt Kylian Mbappe should have been allowed to retake a penalty during that match. However, the Technical Committee of Referees said the referee had made the correct decision.
Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in the men’s Clasico later this month, while Barcelona recently defeated Real Madrid in the women’s Clasico.
