Barcelona stars Lionel Messi and Neymar have declared their support for Michael Essien on his Night of Hope event which is targeted at elimination Ebola from the world.
The super-star duo, who are currently on international duty with Argentina and Brazil at the Copa America tournament in Chile, showed their support for the former Chelsea by sending their autographed jerseys.
The two and half hour event which will be compered by an entertainer/celebrity, will highlight the plight of the Ebola disease in West Africa and the important role education can play in the fight against the spread of the disease.
Though Essien has played against Lionel Messi while at Chelsea and Real Madrid, he is not known to be a friend of Messi but the Barcelona star has decided to support the June 23 event which will be held in London.
Essien is a known friend and admirer of Messi's rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
