Raphinha has given his initial agreement to extend his Barcelona contract, but interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia is holding up the final negotiations, according to El Nacional.
The 29-year-old Brazil forward is in excellent form, and Barcelona want to complete the renewal as soon as possible. His current deal at Camp Nou runs until the end of the 2027/2028 season.
However, Saudi Arabian clubs remain interested in Raphinha and are prepared to offer wages beyond what Barcelona can afford. That has slowed progress on an extension, with the player’s representatives seeking the strongest possible terms and under no pressure to conclude the discussions quickly.
Barcelona sporting director Deco recognises that Raphinha’s current form has put him in a strong position at the negotiating table. The Brazil international’s performances have increased his leverage as the two sides work towards a new agreement.
Head coach Hansi Flick has asked the club to resolve the situation as soon as possible, amid concerns that offers from Saudi Arabia could persuade Raphinha to reconsider his future at Barcelona.
