Barcelona face financial obstacle in reported Erling Haaland transfer pursuit

Real Madrid and Barcelona have long been linked with a possible move for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, but Barcelona could face significant difficulties if it attempts to sign the Norway international in 2027.

Reports have suggested that Barcelona are trying to establish the potential terms of a deal, including the transfer fee and the contract Haaland might require. However, the financial demands of such a move could make it difficult for the Catalan club to complete the signing.

The cost would extend beyond any payment to Manchester City. Barcelona would also need to commit substantial funds to Haaland’s contract, while ensuring the striker could be registered under the club’s financial circumstances.

According to Gazeta.Ru, those issues could make Haaland’s decision between the two La Liga giants less complicated than it initially appears.

Haaland’s current contract with Manchester City runs until the middle of 2034.
