"?Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has confirmed that veteran full-back Dani Alves has indeed chosen to leave the club this summer. It has been rumoured the Brazilian has agreed to join Serie A champions Juventus.

"Alves has decided to leave. It is a personal choice that we respect," Fernandez told the media at a press conference early on Thursday afternoon.

The 33-year-old only signed a new contract last summer that was due to run until 2017, but he will now not be seeing it through to completion.

The world's most expensive defender at the time of his arrival from Sevilla in 2008, Alves has won six La Liga titles in the last eight years, as well as four Copa del Reys, three Champions Leagues and three FIFA Club World Cups.

Barcelona have been linked with La Masia schooled right-back Hector Bellerin as a replacement. The Arsenal youngster impressed against his former team in the Champions League earlier this season and was recently called into the Spanish national squad for the first time.

However, publicly at least, Fernandez stated that Barça are happy with their existing options at right-back.

"On the right side have Aleix Vidal, who was signed for this situation. We also have Sergi Roberto," he was keen to point out.
