Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has changed his transfer priorities and now wants the club to sign a new defender in January.
According to Diario SPORT, sporting director Deco pushed for Barcelona to recruit a central defender last summer. Flick instead preferred to strengthen his attacking options, but the German coach has since revised his position because of serious problems in the centre of the defence.
Flick is now seeking defensive reinforcements when the January transfer window opens, with a new centre-back identified as a priority for the Catalan club.
Barcelona currently lead La Liga after nine matches, having collected 27 points.
The Catalans will host Real Madrid in the 10th round on 25 October. The match is scheduled to kick off at 22:00 Moscow time.
