Barcelona are continuing to assess 19-year-old Athletico Paranaense defender Arthur Dias after club scouts watched him during Sunday’s Brasileirao match against Bahia.
Chief Barcelona scout Joao Amaral was seen in the stands at Arena da Baixada for the fixture on Sunday, September 20, as Barcelona monitored one of Brazil’s most highly regarded young defensive players.
Dias has attracted interest from several leading European clubs after establishing himself as an exciting prospect in Brazilian football.
According to ESPN Brazil, Barcelona remain at the “assessment phase” and have not made a formal approach for the defender.
Athletico Paranaense are understood to have already rejected a £17.5 million offer from Tottenham for Dias. The Brazilian club remain determined not to sell him for less than his valuation.
