Balogun Passes Mainz Late Fitness Ahead Of Europa League Clash Vs Anderlecht

Published on: 19 October 2016

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, could return to action for Mainz in Thursday's Europa League home game against Anderlecht after he was passed fit following Wednesday's training session.

This was confirmed on Mainz official Twitter handle on Wednesday.

Balogun's last game for Mainz was in September at home to Bayer Leverkusen which the visitors won 3-2.

The former Darmstadt defender had to come off in the ninth minute after sustaining an injury.

But following Wednesday's fitness tests, Balogun, along with Fabien Frei, look set to return to action for the Bundesliga side.

"Fabian Frei and Leon Balogun played a full part in the last training session and passed their respective fitness tests," Mainz was quoted on their Twitter handle.

Balogun's return to action will be good news for the Super Eagles ahead of next month's 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Uyo.
