Brighton Hove Albion defender, Leon Balogun has praised his Seagulls teammates for their outstanding display in Tuesday’s 3-1 derby win over Crystal Palace in the EPL.

Balogun scored the second quickest EPL goal by a substitute this season in the encounter when he came on for Pascal Gross in the 30th minute after Shane Duffy was sent off.

It was the second quickest by a substitute after Daniel Sturridge’s goal versus West Ham United – a feat achieved after 24 seconds.

Glen Murray had earlier scored the opener from the spot in the 24th minute. Florin Andone replaced Murray in the 35th minute and made it 3-0 in the fourth minute of added to the first half. Then Luka Milivojevic scored from the spot to make it 3-1 after Bernardo Fernandes da Silva Junior had fouled Wilfred Zaha in the box.

Balogun and Andone also created new record as it was the first time ever that two substitutes scored in the first half of a Premier League match.

“Outstanding team performance last night! Not easy being down to 10 men, but your fantastic support from the stands made us compensate that! It’s that unity you could feel at the Amex last night that makes this club @OfficialBHAFC so special! #DerbyWinners #Best1stTouchOfMyCareer,” Balogun tweeted on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.

Brighton have now won six Premier League games this term and are placed 10th with 21 points in the EPL log. They travel to Burnley for their next game on Saturday.
