Bad News as Liverpool Duo Nathaniel Clyne & Adam Lallana Are Ruled Out of England Double Header

Published on: 01 October 2016

"?Gareth Southgate is likely be without Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne for England's international double header, according to the "?Daily Express.

Southgate, who is assuming national team duties after Sam Allardyce's departure, is also unable to call up Clyne's Liverpool teammate Adam Lallana, leaving him with a selection headache in his first game in charge.

Lallana was forced off during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Swansea City while Clyne has been playing through the pain barrier and, after speaking to the Premier League side's medical teams, Southgate may choose to leave them out of his squad.

Southgate luckily will have the experienced Kyle Walker to call upon for England's games against Slovenia and Malta.

Speaking about Lallana, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: "He has no chance for the national team."

"But hopefully 15 or 16 days should be enough to bring him back on the pitch."

Meanwhile, Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard is set to be included by Southgate while the interim boss has also confirmed he will keep Wayne Rooney as the national team captain.

Rooney's United team-mate Marcus Rashford will return to the full squad having been dropped to the Under-21s by Allardyce last month. Rashford responded admirably by scoring a hat-trick against Norway and has added further goals for United against Watford, Northampton and Leicester.
