Back to England: Bright Osayi-Samuel joins Birmingham City on a 3-year deal

Bright Osayi-Samuel has made a shocking return to England with Birmingham City FC announcing his arrival on a three year deal as a free agent from Turkish club, Fenerbahce, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

With a career which began in England, he rose through the ranks at Blackpool before moving to QPR in 2017, where he made over 100 appearances. On the international stage, he has earned 22 caps for Nigeria and was part of the Super Eagles squad that finished as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Reflecting on his decision to join, Osayi-Samuel revealed that it was the club’s ambitious vision and long-term project that ultimately convinced him to make the move to B9.

Having spent three and a half seasons with Fenerbahce, racking up 126 appearances for the Turkish giants, he was a key figure under José Mourinho last season, he showcased his versatility and composure on some of Europe's biggest stages, featuring in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.

Now back in England, Osayi-Samuel is confident that his time in Turkey along with his experience at the top level will serve him well as he embarks on this new chapter, believing it will bring added value to both himself and his new club.

Known for his versatility which includes playing as a full-back, wing-back, or winger, Bright Osayi will immediately join his new teammates ahead of next week’s training camp in Portugal. His arrival comes after a competitive pursuit, with the Blues fending off interest from several other clubs to secure his signature.
