AshantiGold coach Bashir Hayford claims BA United players played out of their skin to impress him towards signing them for the club.
The bottom club secured a shocking 1-0 win over the Miners who are sitting pretty at the top of the First Capital Plus League.
The win halted a four-game losing streak for the Apostles of Power Soccer whose camp have been hit with a betting scandal.
But Bashir Hayford in admitting to the defeat claims the BA United players were motivated to impress him on the day into signing them for AshGold.
“They played very well and deserved to win,” he said.
“Most of the players wanted to impress me because they had called to express interest in joining AshantiGold.
“So it is good they’ve impressed and won but they have to sustain this performance for their own benefit.”
AshGold remain top of the Ghanaian top flight but now just three points clear of closest rival Aduana Stars after 12 round of matches.
