The battle is on for the player to pair Taiwo Awoniyi in the Flying Eagles attack in Wednesday’s AYC semifinal after Chidera Eze failed to convince in the first two games.
Dolphins striker Christian Pyagbara played alongside Awoniyi in the final Group A match against Cote d’Ivoire in Mbour at the weekend and even though he scored a goal, he did not look match-fit and was not often on the same page with the rest of the team.
FC Porto youngster Ezeh started against both Senegal and Congo, but he has struggled with the pace and the physicality of the matches in Senegal.
Alhassan Ibrahim aka ‘Muazam’ and Usman Saleh could now be considered to partner three-goal star Awoniyi against the Black Satellites.
Both forwards featured against Cote d’Ivoire and it is most likely one of them will get the nod to be part of the Flying Eagles twin strike force on Wednesday.
Otherwise, the Flying Eagles will welcome back suspended goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo, defender Izu Omego and attacking midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew, who has so far scored twice in this tournament.
