With the Flying Eagles set to face the Black Satellites of Ghana in one of the semi-final matches of the ongoing Africa Youth Championship, technical committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Garba Lawal has predicted a tough match ahead.
The Nigerians, top of group A with seven points will face their Ghanaian counterparts who finished second in group B with six points.
Both countries played two friendly matches against each other before the competition – the first ending in a 2-2 draw – while Nigeria won the second 2-0.
And also given the rivalry between both countries over the years, Lawal believes it will be a tough one.
“It will be a tough one and I’m sure the teams know this,” he said. “It’s not just for Nigeria; it is the same for the Ghanaian team as well.
“They are both strong teams and they know this will be a tough game and given our history, I wouldn’t expect anything less.”
Speaking further, Lawal also advised against judging the Flying Eagles solely on the 2-2 draw with Ivory Coast.
“We have seen that we have a very strong team and they shouldn’t be judged solely on that game against Cote D’ Ivoire. They’ve shown how good they are and I think they can go all the way,” he added.
