Avram Grant loses first competitive match as Ghana coach
Avram Grant lost the plot against Senegal

Avram Grant lost his first competitive match  as Ghana coach after the Black Stars went down 2-1 against resilient Senegal in their opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations game on Monday.

The ex-Chelsea manager tasted defeat in his first competitive game as questions are being asked about his tactical variations.

His favoured 3-5-2 formation has now become a matter of intense debate in the West African country as pressure begins to mount for the Israeli.

Substitute Mousa Sow scored a dramatic late winner to complete his team’s comeback at the Stade de Mongomo in an electrifying opener on Monday.

Sow drilled in a low shot with almost the last kick of the game in added time after Mame Biram Diouf had cancelled out Andrew Ayew's first-half penalty for Ghana.

The result was a sour start for former Chelsea boss Avram Grant in his first match in charge of Ghana, with the quadruple former winners now under pressure to advance from the 16-nation tournament's toughest group. Algeria and South Africa, the other two teams in the group, meet later on Monday.

Atsu, Jonathan, have been given so much opportunity with this current black star team and they haven't really matured. This performance would have been worse had boye played. The bitter truth is our players aren't up to standard. they are very ordinary. Rabiu is a classical example. I think with Gyan available for our next game, the goals will flow. Afriyie shd not wear the black star jersey again apuuu. Anthony Annan would have been better. Badu and rabiu is not a good combination. The fa shd stop chasing players abroad and look within. Mahatma is far better than accam, atsu and afriyie.

At some point I thought it was not Ghana I was watching playing today. Avram Gram should know that Ghananians are accustomed to playing attacking football and enjoy keeping possession. This fake coach who lamentably failed at Chelsea will just waste your tax payers money.

well said you are right. Grant is a coward. I have never in my life time seen any black Star team play so defensive so bad. All the players you have are offensive groom and it will not work. The best way to defend is to attack. maxwell Konadu can do a better job.

This is not Avram’s fault. Its all the fault of GFA that would not stop interfering with the coaches selection but constantly telling him not to call certain players. If Avram is going to succeed then Idiot Nyantakyi and his cohorts need to get their stinking asses out of the GFA and allow the coach to do his job

Guys Grant was given the right to choose all the players in the world good for Black Stars except the indiscipline once. So don't blame the FA. His 3 5 2 formation is not good for our offensive minded players, we don't have the strikers who can score on the break the 4 4 2 is good for the material he has know.

Avram Grant ,Avram Grant Avram Grant.. Is the GFA blind??? This guy sent his last two teams to relegation..( Portsmouth and Westham United) Yet Ghana government says he is the best pick to coach our national team. I`m not against a foreign coach but if youre gonna get one, pick one with current form and class under his belt. Guys like Ancelotti or Maurinho. If we cant afford, then the wisest choice is to stick with our local coaches instead of some tired old horse that has been rejected by others.. For God sake, the guy is clueless about African Football... BUt no, Ghanaians always bow to the caucasian so they`d rather have a clueless Avram Grant on the job rather than giving it to Sellas Tetteh,Marseille Desailly or any of the top local coaches in Ghana.. WE WONT MAKE IT OUT OF THE GROUP!! SIMPLE AS THAT.

Brimah must stop giving short passes and throws to his defenders and get the ball out into the opposition area. His short passes put us under a lot of pressure in the 2nd half.
