Auxerre edge Brest after late own goal decides fifth-round clash

Auxerre came from behind to beat Brest 2-1 at the Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps and claim all three points in their fifth-round match of the French championship.

Brest made the stronger start and took the lead in the 23rd minute. Pathe Mboup capitalised on an opportunity to beat the Auxerre goalkeeper, putting the visitors 1-0 ahead.

The hosts responded immediately after the interval. Cameron Archer restored parity in the 46th minute, finishing to make it 1-1.

Auxerre completed the turnaround seven minutes from the end of normal time. Rafael Le Guen put the ball into his own net in the 83rd minute, giving the home side a 2-1 advantage.

Brest were unable to find a way back in the closing stages and left Auxerre with no points.
