Aston Villa Set to Make a Move for Barnsley Defender James Bree

"?Aston Villa's aggressive approach to this January transfer window looks set to continue, after "?the Sun reported that the Midlands club are hot on the trail of Barnsley full back James Bree.

The 19-year-old right back has emerged as a first team regular for the Tykes, despite only making his senior debut in May 2014, becoming the club's second youngest debutant in the process.

New Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is keen to restructure his squad, after coming in to the job a couple of months ago. The well travelled manager has led the Villans to mid-table security since arriving, but wants to strengthen the ranks ahead of what could be a late play off push.

Bruce clearly wants to give regular Villa right back Alan Hutton some healthy competition and with Bree already picking up nearly a half century of league appearances for Barnsley, he may be one for the present as much as he would be for the future.

Great win down at Oakwell today! Nice late Christmas present for us and all the fans, always good to get an assist too?? #YOUREDS

Villa have already been active in the window so far, recruiting young stopper Sam Johnstone on loan from Manchester United for the rest of the season and the 23-year-old made his debut for the club in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the 3rd round of the Emirates' FA Cup.

Bruce is also said to have earmarked Nottingham Forest skipper Henri Lansbury and Norwich City left sided star Robbie Brady as other shopping targets this month.
