Aston Villa Owner Claims Club Have Rejected £25m Offer for Star Defender

"?Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has revealed that the club have turned down a substantial offer for French defender Jordan Amavi.

The 22-year-old has made 18 appearances for the Championship side this season, so far averaging 1.8 tackles, 1.8 interceptions and 2.3 clearances. And he has been attracting attention from top sides in Europe, including the likes of Marseille and Liverpool.

The French side are thought to be keener than the Reds, however.

Xia, on Tuesday afternoon, claimed that the Villans had rejected a bid of £25m for the left-back.

"I can tell we have rejected an offer of £25M for Jordan Amavi," the club owner posted on Twitter. "He will grow bigger at Aston Villa."

Villa are doing considerably better under Steve Bruce, having fired former Chelsea and Schalke 04 boss Roberto di Matteo earlier this season due to unwanted results. They have won four of their last six games, with wins over Queens Park Rangers and Burton Albion coming in their last two fixtures.

"A full house game since 2011 and a straight fifth home win since?" Xia also posted, three days ago. "That will make u feel all hard working is getting rewarded. Thanks u all!

If Villa are to return to the Premier League at the soonest, selling their best players won't do them any good. They're currently sat in 10th place on the table, so it will take a whole lot to get into contention for promotion at the end of the season.

Bruce, though, has a remarkable promotion record. Their chances are always solid under him.
