Tottenham slipped into the Premier League relegation zone after losing 3-2 to Aston Villa at home in the fifth round of the 2026/27 season.

The hosts were forced into an early change when Pedro Porro suffered an injury in the 19th minute and was unable to continue. Manager Roberto De Zerbi sent Archie Gray on in his place.

Aston Villa gradually took control of the match and went ahead before half-time through Yohan Manzambi.

The visitors extended their advantage after the break, with Nicolas Jackson and Emiliano Buendia both finding the net to put Aston Villa 3-0 ahead.

Tottenham responded with two late goals to set up a tense finish. Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke reduced the deficit to one, but the hosts could not complete the comeback.

Aston Villa’s victory moved them up to 15th in the table on four points. Tottenham remain on two points and have dropped into the relegation zone.
